New Pokemon Sun and Moon Trailer Reveals New Features And Version-Exclusives

With less than 2 months until release date, the Pokemon Company have released a new Pokemon Sun and Moon trailer which focuses on exclusive Pokemon and new features. Check out the trailer below, and keep reading for all the in-depth details!

The first version exclusive Pokemon we see in the trailer are Passimian and Oranguru – the monkey Pokemon. Passimian (shown above on the left) is exclusive to Pokemon Sun, and is a Fighting Pokemon with the ability Receiver (which allows it to inherit the ability of an ally when that ally faints). According to the Pokedex entry, “Passimian live in troops of 20 to 30 individuals, all following a leader. The troop’s teamwork is strong, and the boss puts troops through training to improve their co-ordination with one another and their skill in handling Berries. Apparently this training is so hard that some Passimian end up running away.” Talk about harsh love.

Oranguru, exclusive to Pokemon Moon, is a Normal/Psychic type with the ability Inner Focus or Telepathy. Unlike it’s well-trained reveal-mate, Oranguru are solitary creatures that spend a lot of time meditating. Like Orangutangs, they’re intelligent and kind to other Pokemon, often healing the injured and feeding the hungry. According to the Pokedex, they can even “act on their own initiative and use items that only humans normally use – allegedly, there have been sightings of Oranguru using Poke Balls!”

lycanroc lycanroc2

Lycanroc is the evolved form of Rockruff, and has two different forms depending on the game – if it evolves in Sun, it will evolve into the Midday Form (the white, slighty-less-creepy looking form on the left), while if it evolves in Moon, it will become the Midnight Form. According to the Pokedex, “the Midday form is known for speedy movements that leave its opponents bewildered – dodging opponent’s strikes while attacking with sharp rocks of its mane as it slips past. The Midnight Form Lycanroc provokes opponents into attacking, countering with a single devastating blow that finishes off its foe!” Personally I love both the designs, but I guess that depends whether you prefer speed or power.

New Z-Moves:

The trailer shows 2 new Z-Moves, exclusive to Pikachu and Eevee. Pikachu will be getting a move called Catastropika, which looks to deal a tremendous amount of damage, while Eevee gets support from the family with Extreme Evoboost – a move which boosts all of Eevee’s stats by 2 stages.

New Features:

It’s already known that Pokemon Sun and Moon will feature character customization, but this new trailer shows how much you’re able to customize your trainer in more detail. Customizing uses Festival Coins and lets you dye white items a new colour. Additionally you can change your Trainer’s hair colour and even try on coloured contact lenses (finally, my trainer may actually have a resemblance to me!)

Pokemon Amie gets an update and is now Pokemon Refresh, which lets you interact with your Poke-pals in whole new ways. In addition to playing mini-games and feeding Poke Puffs, you can also remove stats such as Poison and Paralysis, as well as give them an extra special grooming. Finally, if their affection is at a high point, your Pokemon might just avoid attacks or remain with 1HP when battling in the game – great for those crucial battles!

The Pokemon website promises more information on October 4th at 22:00 JST, which is 14:00 BST, 09:00 EDT and 06:00 PDT, so keep checking for that! Pokemon Sun and Moon releases for the 3DS on November 18th 2016.

Have any of these exclusives swayed you towards a particular version? Let us know which you’ll be pre-ordering in the comments! (I’m tempted to get Pokemon Moon myself, got to love that Bat-Legendary!)
