Source 2 is Here in the Dota 2 Reborn Beta
Over the past few weeks Valve has been teasing that Dota 2 was going to be Reborn and custom games were going to be coming, today that update has finally arrived. The Dota 2 Reborn update is live, and it’s powered by the Source 2 engine.
The new engine boasts a lot of new features such as, More Responsive Input, which will reduce latency between commands and allow key presses and mouse clicks faster than before, Tiled Map System, which will allow people to make maps faster and also allow “dramatically different visual styles, while ensuring that each variation has identical gameplay.” Enhanced Performance, Source 2 is built to support all kinds of software and will run better on older laptops and will allow those with strong gaming rigs to fully use all that power with the new engine. Multithreading & Streaming, Source 2 will use all the possible CPU cores it can to make your games run smoother than ever. Improved Audio, with the new engine audio has been improved including voice chat. Physics, Source 2 will include new physics that boast better cloth simulation, and many other features as well.
Source Filmmaker has also been rebuilt in the Source 2 engine, and Valve states that with the new engine creators will be able to make bigger worlds, faster load times, longer movies and more.
And finally, the network is being improved as well. Valve has created a new backbone to connect their data center sites that will help to improve match quality. Valve also hopes to double the number of links in the next six months. With the improved networking, this should also help to decrease DDOS attacks, which have been a plague to the Dota 2 community for ages now with popular streamers or pro Dota players getting attacked on almost regular basis.
To install the Reborn Beta you will have to do a few steps first, which I have included below.
1.Install Dota 2 if you haven’t already

All this and more will be coming with the Reborn update, and if you want to check out the full post for yourself you can head to the Reborn page here. Source 2 is finally here and I can’t wait to start playing some custom games.
