Ryu and Roy Confirmed For Smash Bros. 4?
It looks like the hype is real, Street Fighter’s Ryu and Fire Emblem’s Roy appear to be confirmed for Smash Bros For Wii U and 3DS thanks to a couple of videos leaked online through Reddit’s Smash Bros board. The first hint of these characters came out of some music files found within Smash Bros For 3DS after a content patch had been released. These music files sounded very similar to both Roy’s old theme from Super Smash Bros. Melee and Ryu’s theme from Super Street Fighter 2. Now that actual video has surfaced online, it appears to be all but confirmed that we’ll be getting the Fire Emblem fan favorite and the face of Street Fighter in a future update to Super Smash Bros. 4.
This apparently all came from a patch for Smash Bros that leaked early in Japan. Not only are these two characters confirmed, but in a thread on NeoGAF, people have also found hints of a Splatoon trophy, new stages, and some Rhythm Heaven music deep within the code as well. No doubt a lot of this was supposed to be shown at Nintendo’s E3 Direct on Tuesday, so hopefully we’ll get a much more official look at these features in the game.[Note: If the Youtube videos are removed, they can also be found here and here.]
