Desura Still Struggling
Today news broke about the digital games distributor Desura. More specifically, the owner of Desura, Bad JuJu. Bad JuJu (unfortunate name?) filed for bankruptcy, which could explain quite a bit. In late may we wrote an article about the issues between some developers and Desura. You can read that if you’d like to familiarize yourself with the problems they’ve been having.
However, the gist of the story is they weren’t paying some developers what they deserved and made a bunch of excuses. Apparently, a member of the Bad JuJu team confirmed the bankruptcy with Rock, Paper, Shotgun.
What I worry about are the developers. We have to hope that they get what they are owed (one way or another.) That being said, I don’t think we can ignore this bankruptcy, as it seems to be a obvious reason why the developers weren’t getting paid. I hope Desura bounces back, and that they don’t just go under due to bad press. I also know that developers will always go where they think their product will be most successful, and if Desura isn’t that place for anyone anymore, so be it.
