New Demos For Metro Redux Releasing Today, Roughly A Third Of Each Game

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light are getting demos today. Normally this wouldn’t be a big deal, it’d be even less of an event when the game(s) have been out for almost a year. The thing that sets these demos apart is that they’re roughly a third of each game, with the Metro 2033 demo containing eight chapters of the game, and Metro: Last Light containing nine chapters. If the player decides to purchase Metro 2033 or Metro: Last Light, they can use their save data from the demo in the full game. Whether or not the save will only work with digital copies of the game remains to be seen.

The demos are available now for Xbox One, and the demos will be available on the PlayStation 4 once the PlayStation Store is updated later today.

This idea reminds of me of the one hour trials that PlayStation Plus members can use, but without the short time limit. Hopefully Deep Silver can sell some more copies of Metro Redux with this idea and keep doing things like this in the future. It’s a unique way to give the player a sizable chunk of the game so they know exactly what they’re purchasing and it’s a nice change of pace in an industry where demos have become far less prevalent.
