Ultra Street Fighter 4 PS4 Port Experiencing Problems
Ultra Street Fighter 4 was released this month on the 26th for PS4 but the port hasn’t been great so far as many reports and gameplay videos show that its port hasn’t gone well.
Lag, shuddering, and other glitches have been plaguing games so far. First reports have noted that game menus were sluggish, other players complain of input lag making the game “feel off” while playing.
Other glitches that Ultra Street Fighter 4 has been having on PS4 have been making it unplayable in some cases. This match with Juri and Dan shows the game turning into a complete and total mess. (Spoilers: It’s bad.)
Other bugs gave characters an unintentional buff. Here’s Guile’s sonic boom projectile, glitching so that its nearly invisible.
Other issues seem mostly harmless, specifically the game’s various audio bugs. Here’s Dudley versus Dudley, in a fight where the fighter’s jump and duck sound effects have been replaced by the sound of what sounds to me like a shootout.
Gio Corsi, PlayStation’s director of third-party productions and developer relations said on Twitter today that that the issues were being looked and that a patch is in the works and they will keep players updated.
Later a Capcom spokesperson offered the following update on the buggy launch of Ultra Street Fighter 4’s PS4 port.
“We are aware that some users are experiencing problems with the PS4 version of USFIV, which is published and developed by SCEA’s Third Party Production group. SCEA and Capcom are currently looking into the issues that some users may be experiencing and are working to resolve them as quickly as possible. We will continue to provide updates on our progress.”
The company also commented on how the PS4 version might impact the Capcom Pro Tour, the publisher’s competitive fighting game league.
“The integrity of the Capcom Pro Tour is a top priority for us and we will continue to work with tournament organizers worldwide to ensure that the highest quality event will be run. Each region will maintain its current hardware standard for the remainder of the 2015 Capcom Pro Tour until otherwise announced. We will keep you updated as to when the PS4 version of USFIV will be integrated into the Pro Tour.”
