SGDQ 2015 Releases Schedule for This Year’s Event
SGDQ 2015, also known as Summer Games Done Quick, has released the schedule for this year’s event, with many classic games and incentives to donate for the speedrunners playing at the event this year. SGDQ 2015, which is scheduled for July 26 through August 1, is set to start off with Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island, played by Trihex, and set to end with a co-op run of Chrono Trigger, played by Essentia and puwexil. It will also include many more classic and fan favorite games throughout the entire week. The full event has an estimated time of just about 140 hours! That’s a lot of time for playing games.
Just a few of the games going to be played this year include some great titles such as Donkey Kong Country, Resident Evil 4, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and those are all games that are going to be played in just the first day! Also included in the schedule are some incentives for all kinds of different things, such as doing a no hover run for Super Mario Sunshine or playing F-Zero GX one handed, and many more.
GDQ has been doing events since 2010, and at last year’s summer event they were able to raise over 700 thousand dollars, at the winter event earlier this year they were able to raise over 1.5 million dollars, all for the sake of charity. I have watched many of the events myself and it always amazes me how fast the people playing the games have to be sometimes to pull of a certain trick or how some of them are able to play the game in amazing ways like being blindfolded or only playing with one hand.
