Konami’s Primary Focus Is Now Mobile Development

In a less than shocking turn of events, Metal Gear Solid publisher Konami has decided that they will be focusing primarily on the mobile gaming market in the future. This news comes from president of Konami Digital entertainment Hideki Hayakawa, who stated that a primary reason for the shift to mobile is the availability of these devices at all times. Hayakawa also stated that Konami may be pushing Konami’s bigger franchises (such as Metal Gear Solid) into the mobile gaming market. While this doesn’t guarantee that Konami is leaving the console games market permanently it does confirm what recent news from Konami has been implying. With the cancelling of Silent Hills, Konami’s relationship with Hideo Kojima, and the fiasco that removing P.T. from the PlayStation 4 has been it wasn’t hard to see this coming.

Even with all the unfortunate news surrounding Konami, it seems that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (Konami’s only planned console game in the near future) is still on track to release September 1 and is shaping up to be a fantastic game, if Ground Zeroes is anything to go by.
