Roller Coaster Tycoon World Gets a New Developer
Atari has announced in a blog post that the development of Roller Coaster Tycoon World has been handed off to a new, unnamed studio. The new team will continue to work on the game. Atari says that the team will remain unnamed for now because they are “laser-focused” and the publisher is “keeping distractions to a minimum.”
This change in developers marks the third time the game has changed hands since its initial announcement. The game was originally being developed by Pipeworks, but then the development was taken over by Area 52 games.
The game recently underwent an engine upgrade to the new Unity 5 engine, which will allow the developers to improve the game by “displaying many more objects, polygons, and simulations on screen.”
The blog post also states that the game is still on track to be released this year, and that Atari is “committed to releasing an amazing AAA game that lays a new foundation for the future of the franchise.”
