Ratchet & Clank Movie Pushed to a 2016 Release Date
Yesterday, Ryan Schneider, Insomniac Games’ Chief Brand Officer, discussed several details involving the upcoming Ratchet and Clank movie on the Playstation Blog. First, the voice cast of the movie was revealed, which includes such stars as Paul Giamatti, John Goodman, Bella Thorne, Rosario Dawson and Sylvester Stallone. In addition to these actors, the voices of Ratchet, Clank, Nefarious and Captain Qwark will be performed by the original actors from the games.
Later in the day, Schneider also detailed the new release date for the film. Originally, the movie was slated for a late 2015 release but it has pushed into Spring 2016. The current premiere date for US theaters is April 29, 2016.
The PS4 Ratchet and Clank game, which was also supposed to be out later this year, has also been delayed until Spring 2016. The game is a re-telling of the original game released 13 years ago. Schneider promises “dazzling shader response, awe-inspiring effects, velvety smooth animations, and spectacular new gameplay segments.”
“[The game] also features several new levels along with reimagined classic locales like Metropolis, brand new weapons and completely redone visuals made possible by the power of the PlayStation 4. We’ll be sharing more on the game soon!”
While it would have been nice to have the Ratchet and Clank movie and game out this holiday season, it’s not particularly surprising that another project has been delayed into 2016. Let’s just hope that the extra time really does allow Insomniac to deliver this game at the highest quality.
