Activision Confirms Call of Duty: Black Ops III

It can’t exactly be called a big surprise, but for those looking for confirmation of the next Call of Duty game, look no further: Black Ops III is coming.

Activision has confirmed the title on their official Twitter. Treyarch, the team behind the first two Black Ops games, will also be developing the third title in the series. While no date has been announced, the Call of Duty franchise has been a creature of habit, so it is probably safe to say we will looking at a release sometime in early November. This is Treyarch’s first Call of Duty game that will feature a three-year development process, so it will be interesting to see what they can come up with considering the extra development time. They are perhaps best known for adding zombies to the mix, and while other Call of Duty games have had different spins on cooperative modes, most people still seem to prefer Treyarch’s take on the action.

Personally, I’ve been a fan of Treyarch’s single-player campaigns. Considering the original Black Ops was set during the Cold War, and the second one took place in the near future, it will be interesting to see what direction they take the story in now. Check out the announcement trailer below.

Not exactly a veritable feast of information, but it’s always nice to know what we will be getting into. Considering the call backs and quotes from the previous two Black Ops game, it’s probably fair to say it will tie-in closely to the previous two campaigns.
