Splatoon Release Date Announced
It may be April Fool’s but this is no joke. The release date for Nintendo’s inky shooter has been announced. The squid-based third-person shooter Splatoon will be released on the Wii U on May 29, according to Nintendo of America executive Bill Trinen during today’s edition of Nintendo Direct.
Nintendo has also revealed a new game mode called Battle Dojo. It will feature two players, one using the gamepad, the other using the TV. The objective will be to pop balloons before the opponent.
A new series of Splatoon Amiibo has also been announced. This will include a male and female squid characters. These figurines will unlock exclusive side missions and will be packaged with the special edition of the game. Nintendo have not given a specific release date though they will be available presumably alongside the launch of the game.
Splatoon was first revealed at last year’s E3 2014 Nintendo Direct. It’s a team-based third person shooter which focuses on coloring the map with paint. The game will feature online multiplayer and a single player mode.
