Sony Announces April PlayStation Plus Titles

Sony has announced their April free game lineup for PlayStation Plus users, and some may find the options a bit lackluster…at least on PS4.

Via PlayStation’s official blog, Sony has laid out the titles gamers can expect come April 7th. The Vita has a great game coming, with Vita users receiving Killzone Mercenary…arguably one of the system’s best games. Brand-new indie puzzler MonsterBag is also in the mix for the Vita, but I suspect most people will be busy checking out Killzone.

Both PS3 and PS4 are getting a couple of combo titles: Tower of Guns and Aaru’s Awakening. The former is a shooter rouge-like title that I had a blast with, and provides a nice amount of replayability. The latter is a tough-as-nails platformer featuring beautiful hand-drawn art. You may be tempted to compare it to Ori and the Blind Forest due to that description, but, though it can be fun, it falls short of the mastery of that particular title.

In addition, PS3 users are also getting Dishonored, a game that, while not exactly new, is still an excellent AAA stealth title that should be experienced by all. It is definitely a good get for the PS3. PS4 users can also look forward to Never Alone, an educational indie title focusing on native Alaskan culture. It isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but the breathtaking visuals and positive take on educational gaming is something I think should be supported, and its inclusion here may open a few eyes towards that style of gaming.
