New Batman: Arkham Knight Trailer and Release Date Released

If you were counting down the days until Batman: Arkham Knight‘s June 2nd release date, you may want to add a couple of weeks to that countdown. In an announcement on the game’s official website today, Game Director Sefton Hill said the game’s new release date is a few weeks later: it’ll be hitting PS4, Xbox One and PC on June 23rd, 2015.

Hill says the delay is a result of Rocksteady being a “developer that hates to make any compromises,” without going into detail about what precisely is causing the 21-day setback on a game that’s so close to launching. He tried to make it up to fans with a new gameplay video, captured entirely on a PS4:

Obviously, the game – which holds the distinction of being the first M-Rated Batman game – looks fantastic, as Batman continues to investigate just what Scarecrow is up to that has forced an evacuation of most of Gotham City. We get a look at Oracle (Barbara Gordon), as well as another look at the combat and Batmobile aspects of the game.

Batman: Arkham Knight is no stranger to delays, having been pushed back from an October 2014 release already while Rocksteady “fine tuned” the game. We’ve been impressed by what we’ve seen so far, so if the game manages to maintain the quality shown off in previews, it’ll be worth the wait.
