Star Wars: Battlefront Debut Announced

Fans of Star Wars Battlefront have shown a level of patience that would impress Master Yoda himself. It’s been ten long years since Battlefront II hit the shelves, and at long last our patience is about to be rewarded.

The third entry to the Battlefront series is scheduled to be released in late 2015, and so far all we’ve seen are two tantalisingly teasing videos and a couple of images. EA promised that they would show us more in spring 2015, and now that time has come.

True to their word, EA are set to officially debut Star Wars: Battlefront to the whole world at the Star Wars Celebration event on April 16-19 in Anaheim, California. This event is a massive celebration of everything in the Star Wars universe, and will include tonnes of guest appearances including Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, J.J. Abrams, Kenny Baker, Peter Mayhew, Ian McDiarmid and many many more. Tickets are priced from $60 to $140.

Rebooting the Battlefront series are EA DICE, most well-known for the Battlefield games. Patrick Söderlund, the studio head, has suggested that the game will be DICE’s interpretation of the classic Battlefront game. As such it is being called a reboot as opposed to a sequel.

The official trailer shows off locations such as the ice planet Hoth and the forest moon of Endor, as well as the classic AT-AT walkers.

Battlefront will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One in tandem with the new film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the end of 2015.
