Dreamcast Home Theme Announced for Nintendo 3DS

Today SEGA announced that the Japanese 3DS Theme Shop will be receiving a Theme based on the SEGA Dreamcast. The theme has a white an orange aesthetic and the background is populated by a Dreamcast controller and the consoles Visual Memory Unit. Whether or not it will come to the West is uncertain as Nintendo tends to hold back certain releases from the West.

For those not in the know the SEGA Dreamcast was released in Japan in 1998 and in 1999 everywhere else. In spite of it’s initial popularity the Dreamcast was quickly overtaken by the Playstation 2 and SEGA dropped out of console making entirely at E3 2001 with it’s official final game for the Dreamcast being Sonic Adventure 2. The console still lives on though as fans still make SEGA Dreamcast games with the most recent release being Redux: Dark Matters in 2014 so this is actually a cool little nod from SEGA.
