Bethesda Announces Wolfenstein: The Old Blood

2014’s Wolfenstein: The New Order was a hit, so Bethesda is going back to Nazi Germany with a prequel story. Announced today with a great trailer, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood will put you back in the boots of B.J. Blazkowicz and send you back to Castle Wolfenstein for an “expansion-sized” adventure that takes place shortly before the events of New Order, according to Polygon.

It’s being promoted as a standalone game (you won’t need to own Wolfenstein: The New Order to play), and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood certainly could stand on its own, as it features new weapons, enemies and environments as B.J. works his way through a “two-part” mission that culminates with a showdown against a psychotic Nazi archeologist looking to collect “mysterious artifacts.”

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood hits PS4, Xbox One and PC on May 5th. It’ll cost $19.99.
