Finish Him! Mortal Kombat X Brutalities Confirmed
One of the most iconic features of the Mortal Kombat franchise will be making a comeback in the upcoming Mortal Kombat X. Brutalities have been confirmed, Polygon reports.
According to the fourth episode of the MKX Kombat Kast, there will be “over 100” brutalities in Mortal Kombat X. Like fatalities, they require a long string of button presses and certain conditions to be met upon the end of the fight. Each one will have different requirements, and finding them all will take some time. The reveal is around the 17-minute mark in the video below:
Highlights include Raiden’s electric hugs, some groin shots, and plenty of diced up bodies. The few examples shown in the video look like they’re going to live up to the series’ bloody reputation.
NetherRealm’s Brian Lebaron tells us to expect something “much more accessible” than previous brutalities and fatalities, some of which require infamously long command inputs. Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 introduced brutalities, and were subsequently joined by animalities, babalities and friendships. Friendships were Ed Boon’s sarcastic response to the moral outcry against Mortal Kombat’s over-the-top violence– they involved hugs, silly dances, and cake.
Mortal Kombat X is the tenth main title in the series, and is being developed by franchise creator Ed Boon’s NetherRealm Studios. The release date is April 14th, for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
