Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster Will Be On PS4

Another day, another announcement of a re-release of a re-release. Today’s came in the form of Square-Enix confirming that their HD remaster of Final Fantasy X and X-2 will be released for the Playstation 4. This news comes on the heels of Square-Enix’s announcement of a PS4 port of Final Fantasy VII (the PC version).

Final Fantasy X and X-2 will retail for $49.99 both digitally and in-stores “Spring 2015.” If you want to play Final Fantasy VII for the hundredth time, you can download it for $15.99 on the Playstation Store. Both ports will have “system-exclusive features” that have not been revealed yet. Perhaps streaming?

The Final Fantasy X / X-2 remaster overhauled the graphics, score, and added a ton of content that was previously unreleased in the west. The cutscenes were re-done for widescreen and had trophy support as well. Additionally, there is a brand-new audio drama set after the events of the game and follow-up novel.

All of this news only reignites the fan clamor for a true remake of Final Fantasy VII, a title that is as elusive as the fabled Half-Life 3. Final Fantasy XV seems poised to bring some of that era’s glory back to Square-Enix, but Final Fantasy XII looked good in the trailers, too.
