It’s here. Xbox One lands HBO GO.

HBO Go, the popular online streaming service , has finally arrived on the Xbox One. In June, Microsoft announced it would have HBO Go for all Xbox One users by the end of this year. Thursday, it was made official. All Xbox One owners can now watch their favorite HBO shows, like: Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire and True Blood.

Microsoft has been aggressively  marketing their console as an all-in-one gaming / TV entertainment system, providing a hub for both gaming and TV. Given that gaming consoles are the most used devices for watching Netflix, it’s no surprise that both Sony and Microsoft are trying hard to attract the cable-cutting crowd. In fact, there are over 10 million broadband-only homes, and that number is expected to increase in the coming years.

With so many people cutting cable from their homes, it’s clear as to why HBO is trying to put their service on as many platforms as possible. HBO Go is one of the most sought-after online-streaming media options on the market, joining Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Instant Video. It now joins Microsoft’s arsenal of streaming applications, and further solidifies the Xbox One as an attractive option for those looking to cut the cord
