Microsoft To Celebrate Xbox One’s Anniversary With Fans

With the Xbox One’s one year anniversary coming up shortly, Microsoft has announced it plans to celebrate it with fans.

“It’s been an unbelievable year, but we never would have gotten to this point without our incredible fans,” Microsoft’s Larry Hryb wrote on Major Nelson. “We want to thank you for being a part of an amazing 12 months by celebrating with you all weekend long.”

The blog post goes on to share a few interesting statistics, similar to what Sony shared for its own PS4 anniversary. Like that the Xbox One community has earned a collective Gamerscore of more than 11 billion in the past year, whilst spending more than 2 billion hours playing games.

The company plans on awarding eligible users with a few rewards including free rentals of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn and Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods, a Year One gamer picture, and special Xbox One backgrounds alongside a personalized email containing your specific accomplishments.

Though, unlike Sony, Microsoft opted not to share any sales statistics. The only tangible numbers the company threw out was in the past week, in which it announced that Xbox One sales are approaching 10 million sold to retailers.
