Just Cause 3 Coming In 2015

In a lovely Tuesday surprise, Square-Enix has announced another entry into their wildly fun Just Cause series through Game Informer’s December cover reveal. Just Cause 3 will be released on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC next year.

Just Cause 2’s playground was the 400-square-mile island of Panau run by a tyrannical dictator. As special agent Rico Rodriguez, players traveled the open world and crippled the dictator’s bloody stranglehold on the innocent citizens. More importantly, you could tether a bad guy’s jeep to an airplane while riding on top of another car, and then jump on top of that same airplane and blow up the bad guys still dangling in the air with a rocket launcher. A highly-active mod community has kept Just Cause 2 alive and well since its 2010 release, even adding a multiplayer mode that is equal-parts anarchy and fever dream.

Game Informer got some hands-on time with Just Cause 3 and reports tightened controls and a wingsuit– the newest trend in open-world games. Square-Enix’s announcement comes days after alleged screenshots leaked last week, showing some sort of micropayment system. Game Informer reports that Just Cause 3 will be a full game retailing at 60 dollars, but there is no official word on microtransactions.

If you’re looking to dive into this wacky, explosive series, the PC versions of the first two games and all of the DLC are currently 80% off on Steam until the 14th.
