Report: Development Begins For Destiny 2

In a post-earnings financial call yesterday, Activision conformed what we all knew was going to happen eventually: Bungie has already began working on Destiny 2.

AT the earnings call, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg said, “Work has also begun on future expansion packs, as well as on our next full game release.” With the newest DLC The Dark Below due next month, and considering the MMO nature of the game, it isn’t surprising to see work on the next expansion starting. Work on the next title may seem premature, but Destiny was built from the ground up as a continuing universe, and a sequel was always in the works. Bungie and Activision have a 10-year agreement, so it is safe to say we haven’t seen the last bit of news involving them.

Activision stated that there is nothing further to announce regarding Destiny 2, but it is worth thinking about a sequel, and what it could bring to the table. It may have been the most successful new IP ever, but it still has some problems to work out, and a sequel is always a great way to iterate on ideas that work while scrapping those that don’t. I would suggest reading our review to get an idea of what those ideas may be.

What would you like to see in a Destiny sequel? Anything Bungie should keep the same, or something they can improve upon? Is it too early to even be thinking about a sequel? Leave us a comment with your thoughts.
