The Walking Dead gets a New Teaser
It’s only less than a week now until our favorite zombie show – no, not Syfy’s Z Nation, but AMC’s The Walking Dead returns to our screens for its fifth season. To prepare for the action packed season ahead, the network has released a teaser showcasing Rick Grimes looking like a tougher and more fearless man than last season; and don’t worry, there aren’t any spoilers in this teaser.
The lead show runner, Scott Gimple, promised a lot more action and a faster plot this season, and it seems he has stuck to his word.
The plot is set to pick up right where we left off in season 4’s finale, as Rick, Carl, Daryl, Michonne, Glenn and co. are all stuck in Terminus with their lives hanging in the balance.
Season 5 will straight away plant us into their dire situation, as the residents of Terminus will reveal their true intentions (most likely cannibals). Rick and co. soon find themselves travelling to DC to find a cure for the walker outbreak, which Eugene claims he has (this plan will supposedly buy them some time to try to shake off the Terminus group who will be watching over them the entire journey). As you know though, this is The Walking Dead, so nothing will go smoothly and we can get some idea of how bumpy things are going to get when Gimple stated recently that the characters might be “too far gone” to be human beings, and we saw a teaser of that when Rick went into full animal mode in the finale of season 4 when he bit a chunk out of Joe’s neck.
It is also confirmed that we will definitely find out where Carol, Tyreese and the baby are, as well as Beth (who is not on the grill at Terminus as most people thought). We did see a quick glimpse of her at the end of the full season 5 trailer, so expect that to come to fruition sometime in the first few episodes.
There is also going to be one character making a comeback; it’s none other than fan favorite Morgan Jones. Remember him? The guy who helped Rick when he had just left the hospital way back in the first ever episode, to then return halfway through season 3 and disappear again?
Yes, Morgan Jones played by British actor, Lennie James will definitely return, as Gimple recently confirmed.
For the rest of season 5’s cast, you can check them out below:
Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes), Steven Yeun (Glenn), Chandler Riggs (Carl), Norman Reedus (Daryl), Melissa McBride (Carol), Lauren Cohan (Maggie), Emily Kinney (Beth), Chad Coleman (Tyreese), Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha), and Lawrence Gilliard, Jr. (Bob), Alanna Masterson (Tara), Christian Serratos (Rosita), Andrew J. West (Gareth), Michael Cudlitz (Abraham) and Josh McDermitt (Eugene), Lennie James (Morgan) and new arrival, Seth Gilliam (Father Gabriel Stokes).
There are a lot of characters, and if this season is going to be action packed, we can certainly expect a few to be killed off, and of course, plenty of walker killing too.
The rumours were that there will be three characters killed off in first three minutes of the upcoming premiere to get people hooked, but nobody is sure as to whom that might be. The rumour was fuelled even more because Sasha says at one point in the full trailer “Three of us are gone.” As ever though, do take these speculations with a pinch of salt.
It’s just good to hear that the slower and deliberate pace will be mixed up a bit from last season, as it did feel, at times, that it needed a jolt of energy.
So don’t miss the “explosive” season 5 premiere on October 12 on AMC, while the UK will air it on the 13th on FOX.
