Resident Evil Revelations 2 Is Episodic
In a surprising new development, it has been confirmed that Resident Evil Revelations 2 will be released as an episodic experience. Meaning, new episodes of the game will come out at weekly intervals, similar to Telltale’s The Walking Dead.
There are four episodes in total, and according to the press release each one will contain “hours” of gameplay and will utilize its serialized format by using “dramatic cliffhangers.”
Capcom detailed the pricing model for the game. Players will be able to either purchase episodes individually at $5.99/€5.99, or they can buy a season pass or $24.99/€24.99. If the pass is purchased, each episode will automatically download upon release. Once all four episode have been released, the game will ship on a retail disc.
The disc version will contain extra content, though the specifics of it remains unknown. Both the digital and physical versions also contain additional content, but it’s far less than what the retail disc will offer.
It was also recently confirmed that reoccurring character Claire Redfield will be the main protagonist for the sequel. Jill Valentine was one of the main characters in the first Revelations game.
Resident Evil Revelations 2 will release on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, and PC sometime in early 2015.
