Nintendo To Cut Over 300 Jobs
Following the company’s recent announcements during today’s Nintendo Direct presentation, one of which is the new 3DS model, Nintendo of Europe has confirmed that it will be cutting over 300 jobs by the end of the month.
The new was confirmed via a statement to Kotaku earlier, in which it was revealed that precisely 320 staff members will be let go, and is inclusive of the 130 job cuts reported in June. The 190 losses are based within Nintendo of Europe’s Localisation Development (ELD) department and have been attributed to “a set of measures to better enable the European business to adapt to the rapidly changing business environment.”
The company noted that it deemed it necessary to let go a slew of agency workers part of the translating and testing activities staff, and is looking to “increase flexibility and cost-efficiency in the long-term.” Nintendo also reported that the work lost will be outsourced on an as-needed basis.
Our very best goes out to all those affected.
