EA Might Earn $1 Billion In Add-On Content Sales
It seems the outcry over micro-transactions and add-on content is not doing much damage, as Bloomberg reports that EA could net nearly $1 billion from such sales.
This add-on content revenue includes nearly all of EA’s titles, with sports games such as Madden and Fifa contributing heavily. EA’s John Ressebrug signaled out content such as Madden’s Ultimate Team as content growing 350 percent year-over-year since their last earnings report. Doug Cortez, an analyst, expects add-ons in Madden NFL 15 to add $50 million to its projected $300 million game sales.
EA still has games such as Dragon Age: Inquisition left to debut this year, and we’ll see the inclusion of add-ons will persist till the end of the year with said titles.
