Meta Knight Draws His Blade for Super Smash Bros.

Kirby’s masked rival, Meta Knight, will once again be joining the fight in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, game director Mashiro Sakurai has announced. This will be the second time the winged sword master has appeared in the series since 2008’s Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the original Wii.

Meta Knight’s abilities have been changed significantly this time around. Sakurai writes on Miiverse: “Meta Knight’s Up Special Move, Shuttle Loop, changed quite a bit in this game. The glide is gone, and the attack slashes opponents twice while spinning in a large loop. This has turned into a highly technical and effective move.”

The character’s famously been deemed too powerful for competitive play in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and barred from official competitions as a result.
