Night Trap HD is Getting a Kickstarter

One of the most controversial video games of all time is getting an HD remake, maybe. The original creators of Night Trap have come together and announced a Kickstarter project to fully remaster the 1992 FMV video game for modern consoles. The pledge rewards start at $10 and go all the way up to $10,000 (which would get you credit as an Executive Producer).

The creators of the game are asking for $330,000 to complete work on the project, which will take six months. This money will be spent on coding , manufacturing and shipping the game. The team has already created a digital HD transfer of the elements, which is evidently the biggest task in the development process. Most of the six months will be spent on finishing the development process and the rest will be spent on shipping the game.

The original Night Trap was released in 1992 for the Sega CD. The player takes control of a security guard and must use cameras and traps to stop evil Augers from attacking the people in the house. It included an infamous shower scene that was so controversial that it prompted Senate hearings and the creation of the ESRB.

Night Trap HD will be available on PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Mac. The funding period will end on Sep. 9.
