Anvil Engine Detailed in Assassin’s Creed Unity Experience Trailer

Ubisoft has lifted part of the curtain on the gameplay engine driving Assassin’s Creed Unity. Earlier today, Ubisoft released the Assassin’s Creed Unity Experience Trailer, which highlights the new Anvil Engine. Ubisoft have provided a brief look into what will be driving the first current-gen Assassin’s Creed game.

Creative Director Alex Amancio walks us through the streets of Revolutionary Paris, explaining the process of game design including the creation of the buildings, the motion capture on NPCs and the new animation system for lead character Arno Dorian’s parkour. It briefly touches on the co-op gameplay though it doesn’t show us anything that we haven’t already seen in previous trailers.

The trailer is curiously labeled #1, which signifies that we will be seeing more trailers detailing the Anvil Engine in the coming. My best guess is that these trailers will be a weekly feature leading up to Oct. 28, the release date for Assassin’s Creed Unity.

Assassin’s Creed Unity will be available for the PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4. The game has been in development since 2010 and will be succeeding last year’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
