Full list of Emmy Nominees

It seems this year’s 66th Emmy nominations have caused debate in many circles, as to why so many top shows were left out of the long list of potential winners. The Good Wife was one that missed the boat in terms of recognition as best series, as many fans felt it had just finished its best season in its fifth year, and deserved more than just the four actor/actress nominations, but to actually get an outstanding drama series nom as well. Another show which was snubbed definitely surprised a lot of people as it is currently the most watched TV series ever: The Walking Dead. Not one nomination in the major categories for the zombie character drama. A lot of fans were hoping Melissa McBride would finally get a nom for her consistent performance as zombie/little girl slayer Carol.

Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston from last years awards as Breaking Bad picked up a total of three wins.

Another popular series, The Americans, which is about two Soviet intelligence agents, only received one nom for its guest star, Margo Martindale. Many have spoken of the series as really coming into its own in its second season, and that the dark tone and complex characters make the show something special – let alone its also an historical show as well. One of the fans said it was almost “treasonous” for snubbing The Americans, but unfortunately it does seem the Emmys prefer to do things their own way.

If last year’s winners are any indication on who will win this time, we could be in with a clean sweep for the legendary Breaking Bad, as Aaron Paul and series creator Vince Gilligan are all strong favourites in their respective categories. We know Bryan Cranston will be a strong favourite for leading male as well, but Matthew McConaughey’s performance in True Detective as the abstract talking detective, Rust Cohle, was something special indeed and will give Cranston a serious run for his money.

Still, it’s great to see all the new shows getting recognition, like True Detective, Fargo, and relatively new Orange Is the New Black, with the usual Game of Thrones, Sherlock Holmes, Modern Family, and House of Cards picking up their fair share of nominations as well.
