Xbox One Sells Huge In June, Doubles May’s Sales Numbers
Microsoft has revealed that its Xbox One has sold astonishingly well in June, with sales numbers more than doubling from May to June. “Since the new Xbox One offering launched on June 9th,” an Xbox Wire release reads, “we’ve seen sales of Xbox One more than double in the US, compared to sales in May, and solid growth in Xbox 360 sales.”
This can be heavily contributed to the company’s decision to sever the Kinect from the Xbox One back in May, thus slashing the price of the system by roughly $100. It currently retails at $399.99 – the same price as Sony’s PlayStation 4. Microsoft was sure to note that its sale claims stem from “internal data,” and that the numbers are sold through to consumers.
Microsoft has been adamant about waiting until releasing official sales numbers, and it’s easy to see why. Back in April it revealed that its current-gen system shipped 5 million units, a complete contrast from PlayStation 4’s impressive 7 million units sold through to consumers. But it seems as though things are finally starting to turn around for Microsoft, and it’ll be interesting to see where it sits against PS4’s current sales numbers, which should be confirmed sooner than later. Some analysts are even going as far as predicting that Xbox One will outsell PS4 in the US.
