Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix Won’t Delay The Third Main Entry

Kingdom Heart HD II.5 ReMIX’s co-director, Tai Yasue, has stated that work on the HD remaster won’t impede with Kingdom Hearts 3’s development. Instead, Yasue has told Gameinformer that the team is making great progress on this long awaited entry in the series.

“We’ve been working full throttle,” he said. “It’s moving along. We structured our team in a way that development of 2.5 doesn’t impede Kingdom Hearts III. I’m actually very excited about Kingdom Hearts III.”

Yasue also explained that Square Enix opted not to release a new trailer for Kingdom hearts 3 during E3 because 2014 is “the year of 2.5” for the company. Square wants to push 2.5 this year, and make the transition between 2.5 and 3 smoother. The new technology presented by both current-gen systems does allow for new creative opportunities, but it also represents a new array of challenges that Square has to overcome.

“Making teasers and trailers really does require a lot of work, and we just wanted to get the development moving along quickly on Kingdom Hearts III, so this year we really focused on 2.5,” he said.

As for Final Fantasy XV, which was also absent from E3, Square has promised that it’ll share new details regarding the game “post E3.”
