Former The Last Guardian Devs Form A New Studio
A handful of developers that are working on high profile, but mysterious game The Last Guardian and other AAA games have formed their own new indie studio called ‘Friend & Foe.’ The team consists of exactly five members-Ivan Dahlberg, Rasmus Deguchi, Rui Guerreiro, Thomas Lilja and Victor Santaquiteria- and is based in Tokyo but entirely European. In particular, Guerreiro worked on The Last Guardian since its inception while Deguchi spent three years on the project.
Currently there are two games in development, ‘Dangerous Men’ and ‘Vane.’ According to the studio’s website, ‘Dangeorus Men’ “is an action arcade game based on 80’s buddy cop movies, featuring a city-wide explosionfest as detectives Mendoza & InsertNameHere literally jump from explosion to explosion to clear the city of the Punk Gang menace,” while Vane – which seems to be specifically developed by the studio’s ex-Last Guardian devs – “is a single-player game focusing on unraveling the mysteries of an unknown land via exploration, puzzle-solving and other features yet to be revealed, in an atmospheric and powerful setting.”
Fiend & Foe is “extremely nimble game development, with self-funding and self-publishing our titles as far as possible,” according to its website.
