Final Fantasy XV And Kingdom Hearts III To Skip E3
Square Enix has confirmed that it will not reveal any new information regarding its two most highly anticipated games, Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III, at E3 despite the former being in development since 2006.
The news was revealed during an interview with Famitsu (translated by Kotaku), where Square Enix executive Shinji Hashimoto has stated that Final Fantasy XV is progressing well, but E3 isn’t the right time to reveal any new information.
“First, I just want to say that Final Fantasy XV’s development is progressing favorably,” Hashimoto said. “In the company, we’re always trying to figure out the optimal timing to release new information to the fans. We decided that this year’s E3 is not the most suitable time to release such information. Instead, we are preparing for an event after E3 to make new announcements.”
Regarding Kingdom Hearts III, don’t expect any new information anytime soon. “Right now, we are working hard on the game, and I think that we’d like some more time to make new announcements.”
Recently, Square has stated that it is looking to go back to basics, admitting it has lost sight of what its fans really wanted over the past several years. But with both of their biggest games being absent at E3, fans will have to try hard to get excited anytime soon.
