Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo Co., Ltd., poses after Nintendo’s E3 presentation of their new Nintendo 3DS at the E3 Media & Business Summit in Los Angeles

Nintendo President Won’t Attend E3

A representative for Nintendo has told IGN that president Satoru Iwata won’t attend E3 2014 in Los Angeles next week. But even though Iwata won’t be present, Nintendo has stressed that he’ll be actively involved with the company’s activities at the show.

“[Iwata’s] been instructed by his physician not to travel overseas in the immediate future, and so he will not be making the trip to Los Angeles,” Nintendo said. “Please understand that it is business as usual for Mr. Iwata, and he continues his normal duties as president of Nintendo Co., Ltd. while he remains in Japan.”

Nintendo announced a few months back that it’ll be skipping an E3 press conference for the second year in a row, instead opting for a digital event on June 10 at 9:00 am PST, 12:00 am EST. The company has promised plenty of announcements, with one of them being rumored to be a new Zelda title for the Wii U.
