Eve Online Developer Hit By Severe Layoffs

MMO Eve Online and free-to-play title Dust514 developer CCP has reportedly laid off 49 members of its staff. The layoffs followed the studio’s decision to cancel MMO World of Darkness, a game that was in development for quite some time. That decision saw 56 people let go. Polygon reports that severance packages will be provided to those affected.

“As part of our strategy to focus on the EVE Universe, today CCP conducted a restructuring that resulted in the layoff of 49 people in our publishing organization,” a statement reads. “Though it is hard to say goodbye to our friends and family, this action concludes the process we started several months ago. CCP has provided severance packages and job placement assistance for those affected.

“Development teams and plans for EVE Online, EVE: Valkyrie, DUST 514, and ‘Project Legion’ are not impacted by the restructuring.”

We wish our very best to those affected.
