Sony To Discontinue The PSP

Ten years later, Sony is laying the PSP to rest. The company’s first portable console has been discontinued, as shipments have stopped being sent to retailers around the world.

Sony is said to be focusing their efforts on the PS Vita now, and as most of the PSP catalogue is available for download on the VIta, there is no need to fear about missing out some quality titles from that console.

The PSP was a great success for the company, selling 80 million units worldwide and spawning a number of different iterations of the platform itself. Take a look back at the PSP this week, as we have officially moved on to the era of the Playstation Vita.
