Quick Start Menu Now Available In Wii U Update

Nintendo has released the Wii U Quick Start Menu earlier than what gamers were expecting, with gamers having the ability to download this update right now. By turning on the GamePad with the power or home button, a menu will appear that lets players launch recently played or installed software. This means more Mario Kart 8 without having to wait for the Wii U’s dashboard to load.

Along with the new Quick Start Menu, there is a lot more to this update:

  • Wii U GamePad Alerts (special notifications from Nintendo) can be displayed on the GamePad when the Wii U is powered down
  • System updates will now automatically install after download when the Wii U is in Standby
  • The User Settings screen now displays when users select their User Mii from the Wii U Menu
  • The design and layout of the Users Settings screen has been updated
  • Quick Start Menu options have been added to Power Settings
  • A Notification icon is now available on the HOME Menu, allowing users to launch the Notifications feature from the HOME Menu
  • Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience

With this new update, and the saving grace of the Wii U known as Mario Kart 8things seem to be looking up for Nintendo. With E3 around the corner, it will be interesting to see what Nintendo will do to continue this momentum that they now have. This could spell out more Smash Brosor something entirely new.
