Mortal Kombat X Officially Revealed

Following a handful of leaks and rumors, the next installment in the classic fighting game series, Mortal Kombat X, has officially been announced. The game is set to release sometime in 2015, and received a gorgeous and atmospheric trailer as well. The two minute video displays a battle between the iconic Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

It looks as though the trailer was made partially from actual gameplay footage, and it showed off a key number of gameplay mechanics such as environmental interaction and the return of Mortal Kombat 9’s X-Ray attacks.

The official blurb reads “Fueled by next-gen technology, Mortal Kombat X combines unparalleled, cinematic presentation with dynamic gameplay to create an unprecedented Kombat experience.” Both the trailer and this blurb mention “next-gen technology,” so whether or not the game will only release for both current-gen consoles is still unknown. Though, Amazon UK lists the game for almost all major platforms, including Xbox 360 and PS3.
