Wii U Sales reach 6.17 million

Nintendo, as part of its latest financial report today, provided updated sales figures for its various hardware and software offerings. As expected, Super Mario 3D World leads the way for non-bundled Wii U games with 3.09 million sold. Pokemon X/Y was the top-selling 3DS game with a combined 12.26 million units sold.

6.17 million Wii U units have been sold to date after 17 months being in the market. By comparison, Sony’s PlayStation 4 has sold over 7 million units in only 6 months. Microsoft’s Xbox One has shipped 5 million units in the same time frame as the PS4.

Nintendo expects to sell roughly 3.6 million Wii Us for its financial year ending March 31, 2015. Below is the full list of both hardware and software sales.

Hardware:

  • Wii U – 6.17 million
  • 3DS family (including 2DS) – 43.33 million

Software:

  • Total Wii U software sold to date: 32.28 million.
  • Total 3DS software sold to date: 162.92 million.

Best-selling Wii U games:

  • New Super Mario Bros. U – 4.16 million.
  • Nintendo Land – 3.09 million.
  • Super Mario 3D World – 2.17 million.
  • New Super Luigi U – 1.76 million.
  • Wii Party U – 1.35 million.
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD – 1.22 million

Best-selling 3DS games:

  • Pokemon X/Y – 12.26 million (combined).
  • Mario Kart 7 – 9.62 million.
  • Super Mario 3D Land – 9.27 million.
  • New Super Mario Bros. 2 – 7.82 million.
  • Animal Crossing: New Leaf – 7.66 million.
  • Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon – 3.98 million.
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time 3D – 3.35 million.
  • Nintendogs + Cats – 3.50 million (combined).
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds – 2.51 million.
  • Paper Mario: Sticker Star – 2.21 million.
  • Mario & Luigi: Dream Team – 2.08 million.
  • Tomodachi Life – 1.85 million.
