Star Wars: Battlefront To Be Shown At E3, EA Says

Electronic Arts plans to show off the highly anticipated Star Wars: Battlefront, which is being developed by DICE, at this year’s E3. EA CEO Andrew Wilson released this information during an investor call on Tuesday.

This announcement comes from a request to be updated about EA’s Star Wars titles, which Wilson said to expect Battlefront and “other new projects in development,” at E3.

EA did announce Star Wars: Battlefront at E3 last year, and the game will be powered by the Frostbite Engine. The game was shown in form of a brief teaser trailer that was set on what appeared to be Hoth. The first Battlefront game was released in 2004, and the second game was released in 2005. It is nice to have Battlefront back in the gaming picture. Star Wars: Battlefront has had an eventful development, with EA canceling an early build of the game before sending it back to the drawing board.

DICE and EA plan to release Star Wars: Battlefront by early 2015, which is the first Star Wars game to come out of EA’s exclusive publishing right with Disney.

To top it all off, Wilson said that EA will show off at least six new games at E3 this year. E3 is going to be a fantastic this year.

Good lord, yes! I want hold out hope for anything definitive, but any shiny trailer with footage I’ll watch over and over again is worth it to this E3 fan.
