Red vs. Blue Season 12 Premiere Review: Oh Captains, My Captains

The boys from the Red and Blues teams are back and they continue to find new ways to  screw up. Now captains in the New Republic Army Simmons, Griff, Tucker and Caboose are responsible for the lives of their fellow soldiers while also hiding their incompetence. The machinima from Rooster Teeth is just as funny as it was when I first watched it so many years ago.

The episode begins with Grif, Simmons and Caboose trying to infiltrate a Federal Army base. And, in classic Red vs. Blue fashion they find a way to screw up the mission but thankfully no one dies as it was just a training mission for the New Republic military. The episode ends with Tucker and Felix scoping out an actual Federal Army base with Felix refusing to give Tucker the sniper rifle.

Red vs. Blue is still going strong after 11 seasons and the first episode of season 12 lays the groundwork for what could be a very funny season. One thing that I really liked about this episode is how the soldiers under Grif, Simmons and caboose are pretty much a younger version of the three. Jensen is just as nerdy as Simmons, Bitters is just as lazy as Grif and Caboose’s Lieutenant is as loyal to Caboose as Caboose was to the many different versions of Church.

I also love how Felix doesn’t let Tucker use the sniper rifle as it is nice to see callbacks to previous seasons.

The only thing that I want to know is what is happening to Donut, Sarge and Agent Washington in Federal Army captivity.
