Major PS4, Vita Update Out Tomorrow

PlayStation Blog has announced that the next PlayStation 4 update, version 1.70, will be out tomorrow. The PlayStation Vita will also receive an update, version 3.70, and PS App will also update as well.

The major feature of the new PlayStation 4 update is the addition of the new SHAREfactory. SHAREfactory allows gamers to edit footage they capture on their PlayStation 4. It will allow players to put special effects, video commentary with picture-in-picture capability through PlayStation Camera, and custom soundtracks using the included audio tracks/original music imported from a USB drive. After editing, players can share videos on Facebook or export them to an external USB storage device.

All of the PlayStation 4 update notes can be found below:

  • Automatic Pre-download:  This new feature allows to download games faster by automatically downloading select pre-ordered games up to several days in advance of the release, so that it’s ready to play as soon as the game is released on launch day. There’s also a countdown timer prior to the release of the game.
  • Option to Disable HDCP for Games: This highly requested feature will allow players to have the option to turn off HDCP for games. Now players can capture longer gameplay sessions directly from a HDMI output and export them elsewhere.
  • USB Export Option for Captured Gameplay.
  • Live Broadcasting in HD and Archiving Support: Now watch and broadcast games in 720p HD. Players can also archive broadcasts on Twitch or Ustream and watch them again later.
  • New SHARE Options: Change the default gameplay recording time in the SHARE menu under Video Clip Settings. Players can upload video clips and screenshots during your live gameplay broadcasts. They can also select specific Facebook audiences to share each video or screenshot with.

  • New Friends Options: It’s now easier to find Friends and send requests with the ability to search Friends-of-Friends, view Mutual Friends on another user’s profile, and accept Friend requests directly from the Friends list.
  • New Trophies Sort Option: Trophies can now be sorted by rarity in the Options menu.

Not to feel left out, the PlayStation Vita now will have Automatic Device Registration, which will automatically detect and pair both systems when they’re both online and the same user is signed in to both devices. This will make Remote Play easier and faster.

The PlayStation App will also have an update. This update will give players the option to receive Push Notifications for select PS4 updates, such as gameplay invitations, Game Alerts or Friend Requests.
