Naughty Dog Loses The Last of Us’ Lead Character Artist
Naughty Dog has lost yet another member of its staff in a surprisingly short time frame in the shape of The Last of Us’ lead character artist Michael Knowland.
Superannuation discovered the news, who cites Knowland’s LinkedIn profile as the source of the information. Knowland had been with Naughty Dog for a little over three years in which he spent two of those working on The Last of Us. He worked at Elite: Dangerous studio Frontier Developments prior to this.
Knowland is the latest to leave Sony’s prestigious studio. Uncharted creative director Amy Hennig was the first to depart the studio, and has gone on to work at Visceral games on an unannounced Star Wars game. Following her, Uncharted 3 and 4’s game director Justin Richmond left the studio for League of Legends developer Riot Games. Finally, just a few days ago, it was revealed that The Last of Us’ lead artist, Nate Wells, left to join The Unfinished Swan studio Giant Sparrow.
It’s still uncertain where Knowland’s future lies, or whether or not this departure is related to the any of the three mentioned.
