MGS5: Ground Zeroes Ships 1 Million Copies

Konami has announced that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain prequel, Ground Zeroes, has shipped 1 million copies. Though the number does not refer to how many physical copies were sold to consumers, only just how many were sent to retailers. This number also does not take into account digital sales. So for now, it’s relatively unclear as to how many copies were actually sold, but if the shipped numbers is anything to go by, it’s still an impressive commercial feat for a product heavily criticized for its short length.

The game boasts a $30 price tag for only around 2 hours of gameplay, something Konami and series creator Hideo Kojima had to constantly defend. Kojima even admitted at one point that he never planned on splitting Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain.

Alongside the sales announcement, Konami also revealed that the game’s exclusive DLC will be available on every platform starting on May 1. The news comes from today’s Kojima Productions podcast (via NeoGAF),where Kojima revealed that the PlayStation-exclusive Deja Vu mission will be playable on Xbox 360, while the Xbox-exclusive Jamais Vu will heading to PS3 and PS4 on May 1st as well.
