Hearthstone Receiving Its First Single Player Adventure Mode Pack

Blizzard has announced at PAX East today that Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft will be receiving its first Adventure Mode pack, Curse of Naxxramas, A Hearthstone Adventure.

This mode adds a single player progressions that brings you through the classic World of Warcraft raid, Naxxramas, pitting players against bosses in each of its five wings. As players progress in the new Hearthstone content, they’ll unlock new cards that can be used immediately in online battles. Thirty new cards will be added with the release of this Adventure Mode pack.

There will be only one wing of the raid available to players for free. The Arachnid Quarter will be the first to open in a series of five weeks, allowing players to progress each week before the next section of gated content releases, similar to the way Blizzard works World of Warcraft raid launches. After the first wing, players will have to purchase access to the next four using either in game gold or real money. Cards unlocked with the wings will become available in Arena picks even if they haven’t been earned for personal decks.

Class challenges for Curse of Naxxramas will be available as well, testing players’ skills with particular classes. These challenges will unlock class-specific cards for the class used.

The “expansion” is planned to release on PC, Mac and iPad simultaneously, with a specific release date still in the works.
