Planets3 Achieved Kickstarter Goal, Available By 2015
Planets3, pronounced as “planets cubed”, has reached it’s Kickstarter goal of $250,000 today. The game is a voxel-based “role playing with the pleasure of construction and the boundless freedom to roam about in a 3D universe.”
Planets3 comes from France-based studio Cubical Drift. The game is currently a tenth of the way done, with a targeted release date of Fall 2015 on PC only. Cubical Drift wants to eventually take Planets3 to consoles by the end of the decade. The game is not a MMO, but it’s like Minecraft in the terms of multiplayer. Players must set up a server to allow either Player VS Player, or Co-Op through the story. Players have to create a new character when they join a friend’s server for the first time.
Planets3 features dungeon crawling along with space exploration. The game takes place on cube-shaped planets with each planet having it’s own specific gravity. The game also offers a variety of customization ranging from tool building to vehicles building to go across the planet and universe.
Planets3 will be available for purchase around October 2015, and is already on Steam Greenlight. Kickstarter has had a lot of games backed recently, and it’s nice to see this one achieve it’s goal as well.
