So what is Expeditions: Conquistador?
Expeditions: Conquistador is a tactical roleplaying game with strategic resource management and a slice of choose-your-own-adventure. Expeditions: Conquistador is set in a rarely visited part of history which is rife with mystery, political intrigue, and brutal violence. Players take on the role of a Spanish Conquistador in South America around 1520, when the Spanish start to really conquer the Americas. Players will play on actual topological maps of Hispaniola and Mexico.
Characters in the game have traits and pasts, allowing them to weigh in on the player’s decision. The game plays like XCOM: Enemy Unknown with a pinch of Oregon Trail, with players able to control each character, and if they die, they are gone for good. Players can decide if they want to play as a ruthless conquistador, or defy history as a conquistador that brings peace instead of warfare. The game has received positive reviews and won our category for Best Obscure Indie Game That No One Knew About in 2013.
