Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Sells 2.7 Million Copies In Its First Week
Blizzard has announced in a press release today that in its first week on the market, the newest expansion for Diablo III, Reaper of Souls has sold 2.7 million copies across the Mac and PC versions. The expansion adds a new act, a new class, new spells and abilities, and raises the level cap to 70.
In the release they also revealed some other interesting statistics. On launch day, Diablo III received a total of over 2.4 million views on Twitch. The final boss has been defeated over 1.5 million times in the first week.
“With Reaper of Souls, we wanted to emphasize all the things that Diablo gamers have always loved about the series, from the dark gothic setting to the piles and piles of epic loot,” said Blizzard CEO and cofounder Mike Morhaime. “We’re excited to see that players are enjoying the changes we’ve made to the game, and we look forward to achieving our Paragon levels alongside everyone else in the weeks and months ahead.”
Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition will be coming for PS4, Xbox One, and PS3 within the year, and includes base game and Reaper of Souls content for the consoles.
